I use my voice to speak on the intersectionality of Indigenous storytelling and publishing and editing practices. I am an advocate for publishing in a good way, which is relational, respectful, reciprocal, responsible, and trauma-informed.

In this charming debut, a feather from a red-tailed hawk searches for a place to call home.
When a gust of wind blows a feather off a flying red-tailed hawk, it marks the beginning of that feather’s quest to find a new home. The feather travels to many different places but none of these spots feel right. Then, early one morning, the feather is discovered by a little girl who knows exactly where it belongs . . .
Lisa's storytelling combined with bright illustrations by August Swinson of Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation bring young readers along on this lost feather’s search for purpose and belonging.
About me.
I’m an author, speaker, and editorial consultant with a passion for storywork. I am Mi’kmaq (Eskasoni First Nation) on my maternal side, and mixed European ancestry on my paternal side.
I am an advocate for publishing Indigenous stories in a good way, and this informs much of what I speak about and consult on. I have spoken on panels for Editors Canada, Magazines Canada, and BIPOC of Publishing in Canada.
When not writing and speaking, I provide editing services and sensitivity readings through my business, Scribble Editing. I’m also an editor for Portage & Main Press and its imprint HighWater Press, where I work directly with Indigenous authors.
I have BA in Communications from York University and an Editing Certification from Simon Fraser University. I currently sit on the council for the Indigenous Editors Association and I am a member of the Indigenous Literary Studies Association and Editors Canada.
